Using Social Media to Get More Business

It seems lately the buzz words in marketing circles are social media marketing. Many companies and individuals are getting logging on to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and LinkedIn daily to push their products and get leads. However knowing what social websites are hot and joining are not enough. You need to know what to do to get your profile or products looked at first. There are a couple ways that are pretty fast in getting you the traffic you want. We’ll cover a few in this post.

Offer Something Free
If you offer some kind of reward such as free report or DVD you will get people’s attention quickly and get your product or program seen by many. But there are two schools of thought here as if free items are effective. One side says that many people will take advantage of the free offer and never come back while the other side says the free offer is akin to getting your foot in the door. I’m not sure what side is right but if you get your foot inside the door make sure your presentation is good enough to lead them to the end product.

Network, Network, Network
Have you figured out that networking is a big thing? Seriously you have to network with your friends, family, and other firms in your market. This is the crux of social media marketing and if right will pay off greatly. But using social media to get leads is only effective if we get the right leads and this is done by concentrating on leads from your target audience. Search through profiles of people to see if they offer the same products or service which you provide. Leaders in your field will have many followers or friends and you should try to add them to your own network.

Keep the Content Current
If people somehow stumble upon your profile make sure it shows recent entries and updates. Nothing turns a person off more in social media if the profile they are viewing is more than a few days old. Most services on social sites offer an update of status. If you want to keep their attention and get the sales you must provide fresh content.
